The largest division within Suwannee County Fire Rescue is the Operations Division, which is responsible for emergency medical services, fire suppression, mitigation of disasters, rescue activities, and hazardous response to the 692 square miles that make up Suwannee County. Fire Rescue responds to over 11,000 calls a year.
Sworn personnel responds from 5 fire stations 24 hours on-duty followed by 48 hours off duty. There are 20 firefighters on duty each day divided up among the 5 stations. The shift is commanded by a Battalion Chief, a Captains, and a Lieutenants.
In addition to responding to emergency incidents, Operations Division personnel provide a wide range of services to the community including blood-pressure screening, tours of fire stations and apparatus, and fire and life safety presentations within the community.
The division includes 5 fire engines, 3 Squads, 4 tankers, 1 Haz-Mat team, 7 advanced life support units med units, 1 transport unit, and 1 Tactical Team.
The Tactical Team provides support to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office.
