Fire/Rescue Operations

Delivering Comprehensive Emergency Response with Expertise and Precision

Suwannee County Fire Rescue is dedicated to providing prompt, efficient, and professional emergency services to our community. Our Fire Rescue Operations encompass a wide range of specialized teams and resources, each trained and equipped to handle a variety of emergency scenarios. From firefighting and medical emergencies to specialized technical rescues, our team is ready to respond to any situation.

Engine Companies

Our Engine Companies form the backbone of our firefighting efforts. These highly skilled teams respond to fires, medical emergencies, and other critical incidents. Each engine is equipped with advanced firefighting technology, including hoses, pumps, and water tanks, to ensure a rapid and effective response. Engine companies are trained to combat structural fires, vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents, and provide basic life support during medical emergencies.

Hazardous Materials Team

The Hazardous Materials Team is specially trained to handle hazardous materials incidents, including chemical spills, gas leaks, and other dangerous scenarios. These experts are equipped with advanced protective gear and specialized equipment to ensure safety during hazardous material operations. The team’s knowledge of handling and mitigating hazardous incidents helps protect the environment, public health, and firefighter safety.

Technical Rescue Teams

Our Technical Rescue Teams are prepared for high-risk rescues that require specialized knowledge and equipment. Whether responding to confined space rescues, rope rescues, or structural collapses, these teams are trained to save lives in some of the most challenging and dangerous environments. The team utilizes cutting-edge rescue tools and techniques to extricate victims from difficult situations and provide immediate medical care when necessary.

Water Rescue Teams

Suwannee County’s Water Rescue Teams are specifically trained to handle water-based emergencies, including water rescues, boat rescues, and drowning incidents. Our teams are equipped with specialized watercraft, rescue gear, and advanced training to safely rescue individuals from water hazards such as rivers, lakes, and coastal areas. Whether it’s a rescue from a submerged vehicle or a swift-water emergency, our teams respond quickly and effectively.

Ladder Company

The Ladder Company is an integral part of our firefighting operations, focusing on rescue operations, vertical ventilation, and fire suppression support. Equipped with a high-reaching aerial ladder, this team is essential for rescuing individuals from high-rise buildings, performing search-and-rescue operations, and providing access to difficult-to-reach areas during fires. The Ladder Company plays a critical role in ensuring firefighter safety and saving lives in emergencies involving elevated structures.

Tender Fleet

Our Tender Fleet is composed of specialized vehicles that provide water supply support in areas lacking a reliable hydrant system. These vehicles carry large amounts of water, allowing our firefighting teams to operate efficiently in rural and remote areas. The Tender Fleet is crucial during large-scale fires or in locations where access to a water supply is limited. These vehicles ensure that our firefighters have the necessary resources to control and extinguish fires in all conditions.

Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)

Suwannee County Fire Rescue is prepared to respond to wildland fires that threaten the urban interface—areas where residential properties meet forested or undeveloped land. Our Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) teams are specially trained in wildland fire behavior and suppression tactics. Equipped with off-road vehicles, hand tools, and fire-resistant gear, they work to protect homes, businesses, and infrastructure while managing the spread of wildfires. The WUI team works closely with local agencies and residents to reduce fire risks in these vulnerable areas.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are a critical component of Suwannee County Fire Rescue’s operations. Our EMS teams provide advanced pre-hospital care, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) services. Each of our EMS units is staffed by trained paramedics and EMTs who are equipped to respond to a wide range of medical emergencies, including cardiac events, trauma, and respiratory distress. Our personnel are trained to deliver immediate care at the scene and provide transportation to the hospital when necessary.
