Suwannee Fire Rescue responds to all types of fires, providing life safety, property protection, and loss mitigation. We also provide emergency medical services at the advanced life support level. Our paramedics provide the highest level of pre-hospital care. All our personnel are trained and our apparatus is equipped with semi-automatic external defibrillators.
We have personnel who are trained and equipped for water, high-angle, and confined space rescue, and search techniques including thermal imaging. Our extrication equipment includes hydraulic and pneumatic devices to free victims from automobile, machinery, and structural collapse entrapment.
All of our personnel are trained to the operational level in hazardous materials response. We can provide initial response, containment, identification, and decontamination. We can also initiate the tiered response of state and federal resources.
We provide plan review and approval for new construction and development. We also inspect smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and other fire alarm systems. We inspect heating systems, fuel storage and transportation equipment, and businesses, places of assembly, schools, nursing homes, etc.
We have continuous programs visiting schools, preschools, and special events. Suwannee Fire Rescue gives station tours for school groups, scouts, etc. and we have an annual open house where we demonstrate our equipment.
